Overview
Different IOLs correct vision in different ways. Monofocal lenses focus at one distance; toric lenses also correct corneal astigmatism; multifocal and extended-depth-of-focus lenses aim to reduce dependence on glasses at more than one distance, with their own trade-offs such as halos.
No single lens is "best" for everyone. The right choice depends on your eye measurements, retinal health, daily visual needs, night driving, and budget. Counselling explains these trade-offs without pressure.

When to Consult
Lens counselling is part of cataract surgery planning — it happens after your evaluation and biometry.
Evaluation Process
- Biometry and corneal measurements
- Retinal assessment
- Discussion of lifestyle and visual priorities
Available Management Options
- Monofocal IOL
- Toric IOL for astigmatism
- Multifocal / EDOF IOL where suitable
- Clear counselling on benefits, limitations and costs
The right option for you depends on examination findings and will be discussed before any treatment.
Follow-Up Information
After surgery, your actual visual outcome with the chosen lens is reviewed, and glasses are fine-tuned if needed.
